Article Bears Scars of Media Bias: Reuters and the Astronaut

"Bob Thirsk, who is two months into a planned six-month stay aboard the station, said he is mostly in awe when he looks out the window, particularly at the sliver of atmosphere wrapped around the planet.

'It's a very thin veil of atmosphere around the Earth that keeps us alive,' Thirsk said during an in-flight news conference. 'Most of the time when I look out the window I'm in awe. But there are some effects of the human destruction of the Earth as well.'

'This is probably just a perception, but I just have the feeling that the glaciers are melting, the snow capping the mountains is less than it was 12 years ago when I saw it last time,' Thrisk said. 'That saddens me a little bit.' ~Reuters

The title of this news story is, "Earth bears scars of human destruction: astronaut", but one must read four entire paragraphs before you realize that this isn't a scientific discovery, nor an observation of a geologist, rather it is the "feeling" of a Canadian astronaut. That is, he's looking at the world through Global Warming-colored glasses.

Ah, but the agenda-riddled media changes, "...this is probably just a perception, but I just have a feeling...," to, "Earth bears scars of human destruction: astronaut".

The agenda is that the earth is melting, so they must capitalize on the misguided gut-feelings of an astronaut to promote this idea.

The fact is that the earth has been warmer in the past than it is today; the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have been higher than they are today; planets further from the sun than the earth are undergoing the same heating cycles; the sun goes through hot and cool cycles which correspond with temperatures on the earth; carbon dioxide is necessary to all life on earth, since all creatures exhale it, and plants convert it to oxygen; people use the "greenhouse effect" to grow bigger and better plants; warmer temperatures mean fewer crops destroyed by frost, and greater regions may grow crops that were previously prevented by the cold.

Global Warming would benefit mankind, it's just too bad the earth is cooling, eh?

Thoughts on Climate Change

This post would be entitled "Thoughts on Global Warming", but "Global Warming" is so 2005.

Being a Kansan, I know heat. I can recall July of last year, and of the year before, when the highs were around 105, and the pond was down so far I could walk along the dried up, scummy rim of what used to be almost knee deep water. I could fill up the goats' giant water-bucket in the morning and it would be bone dry by late afternoon. The lawn mowing season ended due to dead grass. Air conditioners were worth their weight in platinum.

This year, however, is different, except for the air conditioner part. This has been the wettest, coolest, lawn mowingest July I have ever experienced.

In my family history book, which starts in Ireland, but takes place mostly in Kansas, there is an account of no rain falling in one part of Kansas for over a year. 16 months, I think it was. That was in the 1860's. So, what have we here today?

Climate Change! Global Cooling! Kansan Cooling, anyway!

Oh, it's still terribly hot here, make no mistake. In fact, the humidity is so terrible, I often have a sudden urge to swim upstream whenever I walk outside. But, it's still not like last year.

The pond is filled to overflowing, and I have to remind myself to clean the nasties out of the goats' water-bucket, whereas I'd normally just let the wind catch the dehydrated bits of grasses and leaves from the bottom of the bucket when I pick it up. I've considered flying over our lawn with "Agent Orange" to combat the jungle formerly known as "the yard".

Since Kansan Cooling has taken over, I guess I won't be able to start hibiscus and citrus plantations after all.

Minnesotans are for Global Warming, Doncha Know

Global Temperature Stagnation

Floridian forecasters are predicting a 25 degree low in Tallahassee tomorrow (19th), resulting in an all-time state record.

I must, at this time, pause and reflect on this for two reasons. First, I live in Kansas. You know, the state where the winter chill causes sweat to freeze on your skin, ice crystals hang mid-air, and your eyes fog up when you come back in from feeding the goats.

Secondly, what happened to Global Warming? I'm disappointed, to be honest. I was the president of Global Warming for Kansas Inc., a group dedicated to starting citrus groves and hibiscus plantations in the event of higher temperatures in the Midwest. The best-laid schemes...

This comes on the heels of the report that scientists "accidentally" used September's temperature stats to prove that this October was the hottest in years. Whoops.

You may have noticed that no one mentions "Global Warming" half as much as they mention "Climate Change." That's because they found out that the warming trend came to a halt in '99.
So, to continue their agenda, they switched to the new moniker of Climate Change.

As Alex Trebek would say, "Ooh, soory!"

Recent analysis of geologic and written historical records prove that the sun is mostly to blame for the heating up of the earth.

And you know what else, it gets cooler when the sun goes down, and warmer when it comes back up.

I've also noticed a weird trend in the temperature in the summer compared to that of winter.

I'm just sayin'.

Guangzhou! Gesundheit.

Guangzhou, a Communist city in Communist China, has banned all motorcycles because of crime and pollution.

Take a moment to let that sink in, if you must.

Yes, we have no motorcycles in Guangzhou.
And, as they say, as Guangzhou goes, so goes the world.

They say that there were too many muggings committed with motorcycles as the getaway vehicle, so they banned them. Hmm.

Oh, and they also contributed to pollution, and thus, to global warming.
So, that makes it all better!

Since it is a scientific fact that the Earth’s climate has been alternating between hot and cold ever since Adam officially left the keys at the gate to the ever so clichéd Garden of Eden, why in the world would any reasoning Human Being actually think that global warming is new to the Earth?

But, I digress.

Let us never forget the tyranny and despotism of China, Britain, Germany, Russia, France, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.
