American Brownshirts

It has come to my attention that there is a bill called the Universal National Service Act of 2007 that would require two years of participation in a branch of uniformed service or national civil defense organization for anyone between the ages of 18 and 42.

This bill was proposed last year, but shelved. Interest in the bill has heightened in recent weeks, following the proposition of “a civilian security corps” by Obama. While he hasn't commented on the bill, to my knowledge, it would appear as though he is in favor of the bill.

The proposition of a Civilian Security Corps would just wind-up being an American version of the Brownshirts, especially under the control of Obama. The idea of a Draft is just plain ol' un-American.

Sounds like a good idea on the outside, but I believe that it is the father's duty to teach all of his children how to defend themselves. This is another perfect example of our government stepping outside its jurisdiction.

BTW, I don't know about Kansas, but here in AL, we have a non-state sponsored militia, The Alabama Defense Force.

Thanks for the comment!

I was going to do a follow up post, but it was turning into a confusing mess; so, I'll go ahead and say it here.

The militia was a legal and lawful force, armed by the states, and supported by Congress. The 1903 Dick Act/1916 National Defense Act gave the Feds authority over the militia, and then eventually eliminated it.

The National Guard is not the Militia. It WAS an arm of the militia, though.

The point is, if anyone ever brings back the state-run militia, it will be called "the militia", not "The Civilian Security Corps".

When they bring back the militia, I will join.

I'm glad Alabama has a Defense Force, Kansas doesn't. We're practically steers in the slaughter-house.

Very interesting!

Well, one does not have to be a member of an official "militia" in order to be a member of the "militia".

Very true. The definition of militia is an armed populace.

So, yeah, it does not have to be state-run to be a "militia".

I guess my point was that I'm just not going to sign on to anything with the government until we have a Republic again; otherwise, it will just be another tool of despotism.

So, I guess we have to start somewhere! It will probably be organizations like the Alabama Defense Force that will get us back on track.

God Save the South!
