The definition of militia is an armed populace.

So, yeah, it does not have to be state-run to be a "militia".

I guess my point was that I'm just not going to sign on to anything with the government until we have a Republic again; otherwise, it will just be another tool of despotism.

So, I guess we have to start somewhere! It will probably be organizations like the Alabama Defense Force that will get us back on track.

God Save the South!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06096743545034524940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2794211160571382229.post-39538186181163389152008-07-30T19:06:00.000-05:002008-07-30T19:06:00.000-05:00Very interesting!Well, one does not have to be a m...Very interesting!

Well, one does not have to be a member of an official "militia" in order to be a member of the "militia".Stephenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00885250350095347547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2794211160571382229.post-78119935646513668962008-07-30T18:35:00.000-05:002008-07-30T18:35:00.000-05:00Thanks for the comment!I was going to do a follow ...Thanks for the comment!

I was going to do a follow up post, but it was turning into a confusing mess; so, I'll go ahead and say it here.

The militia was a legal and lawful force, armed by the states, and supported by Congress. The 1903 Dick Act/1916 National Defense Act gave the Feds authority over the militia, and then eventually eliminated it.

The National Guard is not the Militia. It WAS an arm of the militia, though.

The point is, if anyone ever brings back the state-run militia, it will be called "the militia", not "The Civilian Security Corps".

When they bring back the militia, I will join.

I'm glad Alabama has a Defense Force, Kansas doesn't. We're practically steers in the slaughter-house.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06096743545034524940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2794211160571382229.post-81419425163703172642008-07-30T14:56:00.000-05:002008-07-30T14:56:00.000-05:00Sounds like a good idea on the outside, but I beli...Sounds like a good idea on the outside, but I believe that it is the father's duty to teach all of his children how to defend themselves. This is another perfect example of our government stepping outside its jurisdiction.

BTW, I don't know about Kansas, but here in AL, we have a non-state sponsored militia, The Alabama Defense Force.Stephenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00885250350095347547noreply@blogger.com
