Smedley Butler: The Man Who May Have Saved the Nation

Major General Smedley Butler, USMC

"I wouldn't go to war again as I have done to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket." ~Major General Smedley Butler:

Led U.S. forces in the Boxer Rebellion, the Banana Wars, the Occupation of Veracruz (1914), the Occupation of Haiti, and World War I.

He twice received the Medal of Honor, the Marine Corps Brevet Medal, the Army Distinguished Service Medal, the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, the French Order of the Black Star, the Spanish Campaign Medal, West Indies Naval Campaign Medal, China Relief Expedition Medal,
the Philippine Campaign Medal, the Nicaraguan Campaign Medal, the Haitian Campaign Medal, the Dominican Campaign Medal, the Mexican Service Medal, the World War I Victory Medal, and the Yangtze Service Medal.

I haven't seen the entirety of the following BBC documentary, but this will basically explain the Business Plot:

You trying to tell us something with that above quote?

Who? Me? I'm just giving you the quote... his words, not mine.

Do you agree or disagree with the quote? Just wonderin'.

Thank you for pointing out that I messed up the 2nd video, that could have been confusing!

I guess I could have left it by saying that documentaries are like symphonies, which have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Unless it's an unfinished symphony, which has a beginning,...

I'd say, for the most part, I do agree with that quote. That's what George Washington wanted us to do.
