Beating Swords into Gift Cards

It appears as though the practice of "turning in" guns for worthless stuff has again returned to America.

Well, just south of Los Angeles, anyway. (There's a difference.)

From Compton, Calif., via CBS2.com:

"Authorities gave $100 gift cards to those turning in firearms and $200 for assault weapons.

The gift cards were redeemable at Best Buy, Target, Home Depot and Ralphs supermarkets."

"Saturday's event was at a Ralphs supermarket, 280 E. Compton Blvd., where the weapons were collected by sheriff's personnel and volunteers at a booth set up in the parking lot."

"The people are not to be disarmed of their weapons.
They are left in full possession of them."

The same thing is happening with gold being turned into cash. Something of real value, being turned into something almost worthless. Well, it isn't happening with me.
BTW, I was in kansas yesterday picking up 2 trailers of alfalfa. The city was Richmond I think, I know it was 15 miles from Ottowa, KS. How close was that to you?

Thanks for the comment, RG.

I can't help but squirm for the "Cash4Gold" victims.

Why do ya think they want your gold, for cryin' out loud???

Anyway... Richmond, huh?

That would put you just over an hour east of us.

Pretty close!

We used to go down to visit relatives in the Ozarks alot. I think it was Barry County, MO.

How close would that have been to you?
(You live in Arkansas, right?)

This is really sickening! I know I'd be willing to pay alot more than $200 bucks for a nice assualt type rifle!

I know!

How people like that can sleep at night is beyond me.

Ignorance is bliss; Liberals are very blissful.

Interesting, I wonder how close we all live to people we won't know until a future time.

I'm glad I'm not God, I'd be too confused! ;)
